ORIMOKUZAI
This project is a one-sheet challenge which requires first year design students to create a piece of furniture from a standard piece of plywood (2440mmx1220mm) the concept must also include an upcycled element and therefore encourages a sustainable mindset. Posing the question: can a product be both sustainable and luxury?
The Orimokuzai is a folding wooden chair inspired by origami. It provides a space saving solution for its users by folding and unfolding like paper. The pins inserted in the top are used to prevent the chair from folding when sat on.
